What Is Smart Glass?
Smart glass is a laminated glass product with a PDLC (Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal) film sealed between two layers of tempered safety glass. The film contains liquid crystals suspended in a polymer matrix. In their natural state — with no electricity applied — the crystals point randomly, scattering light and creating a frosted, opaque appearance. When a low-voltage electric current is applied, the crystals align uniformly, allowing light to pass through freely and making the glass completely clear. The switch happens in under one second. The glass can be controlled by a standard wall switch, dimmer, remote control, smartphone app, or integrated into a building automation system. Beyond privacy, smart glass also blocks UV radiation, reduces heat transfer, and can double as a projection screen for presentations.
How It Works
Power Off = Frosted
Without electricity, liquid crystal molecules are randomly oriented. Incoming light scatters — the glass appears frosted white and completely private.
Power On = Clear
When low-voltage current is applied, crystals align instantly. Light passes through uniformly — the glass becomes completely transparent.
You Control It
A standard wall switch, dimmer, remote, or smartphone app switches between states. Integrates with smart home and building automation systems.

Smart Film — Retrofit for Existing Glass
Smart film is a self-adhesive PDLC film applied directly to your existing glass panels. It converts any existing glass into switchable smart glass without replacement. Ideal for retrofitting conference room glass, office partitions, or interior windows already in place. Smart film is not recommended for wet areas like shower glass — use full smart glass for those applications. Film thickness is approximately 0.4mm and virtually invisible when installed.
